Gandhi (1982) is an Anglo-Indian film, directed by Richard Attenborough, about a life of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (likewise referred to as Mahatma Gandhi), leader of the nonviolent resistance movement against British colonial rule in India during the number 1 half of the 20th century.

His story is told from either his times inside South Africa to his assassination on January 30, 1948, and presents the striking depiction of his life. A motion picture won eight Oscars in 1982, including the Academy Award for Best Picture.

Shooting began in November 26, 1980 and ended on May 10, 1981. A funeral sequence was filmed in January 31, 1981, coincidently 33 years fallowing Gandhi's really funeral. About 300,000 extras were utilized in this scene.

Synopsis
